Introduction

A `Note' is an arbitrary piece of text which can be attached to any reading, any contig, or to the database in general. Each note also contains a note type, a creation date and a modification date. Internally, notes are stored in a list and hence there can be any number of notes attached to a single reading (or contig or database).

They may be used for keeping an electronic notebook detailing the steps taken in processing the database, or for attaching comments to specific readings. They may be considered as positionless tags.
